We stumbled upon Phidias Hotel by Oniro completely by chance while wandering through Thissio, looking for a quiet spot to escape the afternoon heat with a drink. Before we had even looked at the menu, two very relaxed resident cats had already stolen our attention, curled up on the terrace cushions without a care in the world. A few minutes later, a member of staff came outside with fresh food and water for them. It was immediately obvious these cats weren’t just passing through; they were part of everyday life at the hotel.
Over the next few days, we walked past the hotel several more times, and the cats were always there, napping in their favorite sunny corners or keeping watch by the entrance.
On top of that, the hotel sits in one of our favorite areas to stay in the city, right across the Ancient Agora. You’re also just a short walk from the Acropolis, the picturesque pedestrian promenade of Apostolou Pavlou, and Cat Café Athens.
