A cat named Larry was homeless, injured, frightened, and alone. His life took a remarkable turn when a compassionate woman named Theresa opened her heart to him. Today, Larry is the contented feline “security guard” at the BluVintage boutique in Dover, Delaware, USA. Larry’s origin story
When Theresa first encountered Larry, he was a neighborhood stray. He had a broken leg and battle scars, and even though he was limping, he was always wary and prepared for battle. He had obviously been living a rough life.
Undeterred, Theresa continued her efforts to earn Larry’s trust. Through patience – and with lots of food – the cat’s defensive attitude began to soften. Slowly but surely, Larry realized that Theresa was a person he could rely on. For the first time, he experienced the feeling of being loved.
One day, Larry snuggled up to Theresa and started purring. From that day on, they have been best friends.
A unique job opportunity: Larry becomes the BluVintage “security guard”
At the time, Theresa was opening a retail boutique, BluVintage, in historic downtown Dover, Delaware, and she needed a dependable security guard. Considering Larry’s guarded and combative personality, she decided to offer him the job.
Not only could Larry put his battle-fighting skills to good use, he would also be able to enjoy Theresa’s companionship all day long.
He never forgets his main goal – to guard the BluVintage boutique and his owner. He takes his role as a security guard cat with utmost seriousness.
To ward off thieves and undesirable critters, Larry believes it’s crucial to appear as menacing as possible.

Larry’s ongoing commitment
“Larry settled in nicely, and he became playful and affectionate,” Theresa explains.
He now even goes above and beyond the requirements of his job description.
He warmly welcomes friendly customers at the store’s entrance, greeting them with headbutts and kitty massages. During the calmer hours, he assists staff by lending a helping paw while they work on the computer, particularly in raising funds for local animal charities.
According to Theresa, Larry has garnered a significant following among customers, who absolutely adore him. In fact, he has developed a dedicated fan base and even maintains his own Instagram account.
Theresa gave Larry the happy life he had always wanted. In return, he remains dedicated to guarding her store for the rest of his days.
