Authentic Spanish tapas in a cozy setting
Sitges is a city I go to every year as part of my work as a film festival programmer, and a visit to La Guineu is always at the top of my to-do list.
The restaurant was recommend to me in 2013 by the boss of the Strasbourg European Fantastic Film Festival, and it has since become my favorite place to eat in Sitges (together with some healthier choices such as Veggie Garden, Cinnamon, and The Beach House). Sometimes, I go to La Guineu for fun, other times for business meetings.
The menu is packed with authentic Spanish tapas like patatas bravas, pimientos de padrón, and pan con tomate. Each dish is prepared using fresh and locally sourced ingredients.
The interior of the restaurant is a bit small (and too noisy), but the exterior is charming and welcoming.
The spacious patio is decorated with plants, and at the heart of it stands a tree, its branches providing ample shade.
It’s a perfect balance of nature and comfort, making La Guineu an ideal spot for dining or simply savoring the ambiance of the outdoors.
Cats of La Guineu
But La Guineu isn’t just a great restaurant for foodies. It’s also a cat lover’s paradise.
The restaurant is home to several friendly cats who lounge around the cozy outdoor patio, greeting guests and enjoying the Spanish sunshine.
Each have their own, very distinct personalities (the cat on the top picture has a malformation that causes his tongue to permanently stick out), and they don’t seem to mind the large number of people that flock to La Guineu.

It’s right in the center of the Old Town, just a few meters from the beach and the Monumento a Santiago Rusiñol.
Reservations
Keep in mind that La Guineu is a popular and crowded place in Sitges, not that much with tourists but mainly with local families. Therefore, it’s always a good idea to make a reservation in advance to avoid disappointment. Service can also be slow because of this.

Is La Guineu really serving the best tapas in Sitges?
In my opinion, yes. And since I’ve been going to Sitges yearly for over a decade now, I’ve tried quite a few different restaurants.
La Guineu is the perfect place to enjoy an afternoon or evening of tapas and drinks with friends, family, or even colleagues.
The authentic and welcoming atmosphere (especially the outside area), combined with the delicious food and friendly cats, make it a must-visit spot in Sitges.
