Get ready to fall in love with the cats of Morocco! Photographer Lisa M. Collard just dropped the ultimate cat calendar.

Each page features a gorgeous shot of a Moroccan kitty doing what they do best: lounging in alleyways, strutting through medinas, or simply being their photogenic selves.

From the colorful corners of Marrakesh to the winding streets of Fez, Lisa captures the charm, sass, and mystery of Morocco’s street cats like no one else. This calendar is a little slice of wanderlust and whiskers all year long.

Perfect for cat lovers, travel dreamers, or anyone who appreciates good photography.

Here’s a little preview of what to expect, and what each of these photographs personally means to this photographer.

This cat calendar is the purr-fect gift for cat lovers

Cats of Essaouira

“Looking into this little kitten’s earth-colored eyes made want to scoop into my backpack and take her along,” Lisa M. Collard says. “We went back to visit Essaouira again a few weeks later, and she was bigger and still thriving.”

A large clowder of cats had taken over a narrow alley in Essaouira,” Lisa M. Collard explains. The laid-back seaside town is famous for its friendly street cats. Locals feed them, tourists snap photos, and they all seem to be living their best lives.

“This is one of my favorite photos from Essaouira,” says Lisa M. Collard.

“It had been raining a lot and some kind soul had made this little, waterproofed cat house for a momma and her litter of babies. I passed by here every day to check on them, and they always had fresh water, food, and clean bedding.”

“The streets of the coastal town of Essaouira are quieter than some of the other intense Moroccan cities. The medina is mostly car-free, so you won’t hear constant honking or dodge motorbikes every five seconds. It’s all winding alleys, sea air, and the sound of waves in the background. Even the pace of life is slower here—fewer crowds, fewer scooters, and way more breathing room. That’s maybe why the cats were the most friendly of a country full of loving cats.”

Cats of Casablanca

“On the streets of Casablanca there were often rows and rows of used shoes laid out for shoppers to pick through,” Lisa says. “Street vendors set up shop right on the pavement, selling secondhand kicks to passersby looking for a deal. It’s all part of the city’s busy, no-frills hustle—affordable, eye-catching, and easy to browse as you wander by. It might look like chaos, but it’s just Casablanca doing its thing, and cats really love making their beds here.”

“In the small medina in Casablanca this little duo wasn’t bothered at all when I started looking at the art around them. ”

Cats of Imlil

“It was starting to get chilly in Imlil, up in the Atlas Mountains,” Lisa says. “I was out shopping for a hat when I spotted a litter of kittens playing nearby. They were a little shy and ducked into a stack of tagines for sale. Tagines (also spelled tajines) are cone-shaped clay pots used to cook slow-simmered stews. Think tender meat, veggies, and spices bubbling away in the most flavorful way. They’re a staple in Moroccan kitchens, and apparently, also a cozy hideout for mountain kittens.”

Cats of Fez

“The tile work in Fez is some of the most beautiful in all of Morocco. It’s full of intricate patterns, bold blues and greens, and handmade designs that stop you in your tracks. Even the cats seem to love it.”

“I am always shocked at the places a cat can make a bed in Fez.”

Cats of Merzouga

“Looking for love in all the right places in Merzouga. It’s impossible not to rub an offered belly.”

cats of Riad

“This sassy cat belongs to the owner of the Riad (home converted to a hotel) where we were staying. She would climb into my lap when I was working downstairs, and she would swat at me if I tried to move her off of my lap.”
