Must-visit cat cafés in Vermont
Kitty Corner Café in Barre
Opened in 2020, Kitty Corner Café in Barre is Vermont’s first cat café.
You’ll find the cats in a separate lounge where you can relax, hang out, and enjoy their company with no pressure to adopt. If you do want to bring one home, you can complete the entire adoption process right at the café.
Adoption fees are $200 for adult cats and $250 for kittens, and every dollar goes toward their care and well-being.
If you’re using public transport, the nearest bus stop is S Main Street at Tilden House, about a 4-minute walk from the café. Bus lines 80/89, 81, and 85 serve that stop.

Purrmont Cat Café in Springfield
Purrmont Cat Café opened in September 2025 and is located in downtown Springfield.
The space is divided into a café side, which seats up to 18 people, and a separate cat lounge with climbing towers, hanging-basket beds, a ceiling-level catwalk, water bubblers, and a self-cleaning litter box.
The lounge is home to about five or six resident cats, all of which can be adopted. You can handle the adoption process right at the café.
To reach the café, you can use local transit. Springfield is served by the fare-free regional bus system MOOver, with stops just a short walk from downtown.

- Opening hours: Tuesday to Friday, 07:00 am – 05:00 pm. Saturday, 10:00 am – 05:00 pm. Sunday, 02:00 pm – 06:00 pm. Closed on Mondays.
- Price: $8 for 30 minutes or $12 for 1 hour. Free entry with a minimum purchase of $25 at the café.
- Reservations: Reservations can be made through the Purrmont Cat Café website but are not required.
- Menu: Coffee, tea, signature lattes, smoothies, pastries, gluten-free and no-refined-sugar cookies; bagels and breakfast burritos; soup, salads, sandwiches, and more.

Queen City Cat Lounge in Burlington
Queen City Cat Lounge opened in July 2024 in Burlington’s North Avenue / New North End neighborhood.
They house adoptable felines from Queen City Cats and host events such as Cat Yoga, Meditate with Cats, Study Hours, and Game Nights, plus a small art market featuring works by local artists.
The lounge is easy to reach by public transit. Burlington’s bus system stops along North Avenue, providing connections to downtown and other parts of the city.
From the lounge, you’re also close to attractions like the Church Street Marketplace, Waterfront Park, and the ECHO Leahy Center for Lake Champlain.

- Menu: No full café menu. It’s a “bring-your-own” (BYO) policy for food and drinks. They do offer a small self-serve selection of snacks and drinks in their gift shop.
