I’ve been coming to Sitges for more than ten years — usually for over a week at a time, during the Sitges Film Festival. Over those trips I’ve stayed in quite a few hotels and apartments across town.

Sitges may look small on the map, but where you stay makes a huge difference to your experience.

Whether you’re in Sitges for the nightlife, a chic beach holiday, the Sitges Film Festival or carnival, or just a relaxed Mediterranean escape, this guide will show you the best hotels in every area, from budget-friendly options to beachfront and festival-ready stays, plus insider tips to help you book the perfect room.

📍To plan the perfect trip, including the best beaches, restaurants, shopping, and festival tips, check out my Ultimate Sitges Travel Guide. It covers everything you need for a smooth, memorable stay.

Quick picks: the best hotels in Sitges

If you just want the short answer before we dive into details, here are my personal top recommendations.

Now let’s break it down by area and travel style.

Best areas to stay in Sitges

Sitges Old Town & center (best for nightlife & being in the middle of everything)

If you’re in Sitges for nightlife, this is where you want to be.

However, I would steer clear from the streets around Carrer Primer de Maig (also called “Carrer del Pecat”) because this is where most bars and clubs are concentrated. In summer and during festival season, it’s lively well into the night, but also incredibly loud.

Some smaller accommodations right on those streets also don’t always have the most comfortable beds either.

That said, staying off the loudest streets and more toward the Old Town gives you the best of both worlds: easy access to restaurants, beaches, and shops, without sacrificing sleep. This is exactly why I recommend Hotel Galeón.

Western Sitges (best for a relaxed, chic beach holiday)

If you’re coming for a proper beach holiday, head west. The beaches in this direction — including Platja de les Anquines — are some of the nicest in Sitges.

This area is more residential and refined, and the atmosphere is noticeably calmer and more upscale, especially the further west you go.

It’s ideal if you want quiet mornings, beach walks, and peaceful evenings.

Just don’t go too far west unless you’re happy staying mostly at your hotel or beach. It’s still walkable to the old town, but it starts to feel a little too far for comfort if you’re doing multiple back-and-forth trips daily.

Northeastern Sitges near the port (best for film festival & business travelers)

If you’re visiting for the Sitges Film Festival or have business meetings around the port, it’s a good idea to choose this area.

This is where Hotel Meliá is located, and it’s the central hub for festival screenings and industry events.

It’s extremely convenient if your schedule revolves around the port venues. Just keep in mind that walking between the old town and this area involves a slight uphill stretch — not dramatic, but noticeable if you’re doing it several times per day.

The port is also the place with the most cats in Sitges —  ideal if you want to start and end your day in the company of some furry friends.

Hotel Galeón

If I had to recommend just one hotel in Sitges for most travelers, this would be it.

The price-to-quality ratio here is excellent. It’s not ultra-luxury, but it’s high standard, comfortable, and reliable — and I genuinely love staying here.

The breakfast is one of the best in town. Varied, generous, and actually something to look forward to. There’s also a quiet swimming pool area — not huge, but perfect for relaxing after a beach day or long festival screenings.

Location-wise, it’s ideal. You’re right in the center, close to the old town, beaches, and restaurants — but because of how the hotel is structured, you don’t get street noise.

Hotel Meliá Sitges

I haven’t stayed overnight here myself, but I spend a lot of time in this hotel every single year during the festival.

That’s because Meliá is the main festival location, and the largest screening room (the Auditori) is inside the hotel. Many meetings, industry coffees, and in-between movie discussions happen on the cozy terrace near the pool.

It’s also where all the actors and directors stay.

The hotel even has a famous four-legged resident, Nosferatu, the iconic Sitges Film Festival cat. He’s often lounging around the hotel and is a true festival celebrity.

The hotel itself is beautiful, spacious, and polished, and it features a full spa, sauna, fitness center, and heated outdoor pool.

If you can splurge, it’s the most convenient option for festival attendees. It’s also close to the port and still just a short walk from the old town and beaches.

It’s more expensive — but during the festival, convenience and prestige can be worth every euro.

Sercotel Kalma Sitges

The biggest selling point here is obvious: it’s directly on the beach. You can have breakfast overlooking the Passeig de la Ribera and the Mediterranean. Waking up with that view alone makes this hotel appealing.

The hotel also has a small gym and sauna.

Overall quality is good, though I personally rank Galeón and Meliá higher in terms of overall experience.

It’s also a bit further from the main festival venues, so I wouldn’t choose it primarily for screenings or business meetings. But if you’re here for beach days and strolling the old town, it’s a very solid choice.

Blue Home

This isn’t a traditional hotel but a self-catering accommodation, but I genuinely loved staying here.

The apartment is extremely spacious, with a fully equipped kitchen, multiple bathrooms, and a private terrace.

Its central location puts you seconds from the beach, the Monumento a Santiago Rusiñol, and my favorite tapas bar, La Guineu.

If location and flexibility matter most to you, this is a fantastic option.

Hotel El Cid

I haven’t stayed here myself, but several friends book this hotel every year during the festival and keep returning — which is always a good sign.

It’s centrally located, practical, and known for good value. If you’re spending most of your time out exploring, at screenings, or on the beach, and just need a clean, comfortable base, this is a smart choice.

Because of its price point, it fills up quickly in peak season.

Booking tips for Sitges (important)

If there’s one thing I’ve learned after more than ten trips, it’s this: book early.

And with “early” I mean at least six months in advance for peak season or during events.

The best accommodation options sell out very, very quickly. If you find something reasonably priced only two months before your trip, chances are you’ll be having a horrible experience.

In Sitges, planning ahead always wins.

FAQ: Where to stay in Sitges

Is Sitges expensive for hotels?

It depends on the season. Summer and October (festival time) are the most expensive periods. Shoulder seasons offer much better value.

Is it better to stay in Sitges or Barcelona?

If you’re attending the festival or want a relaxed beach holiday, stay in Sitges. If you’re only planning a quick day trip, Barcelona works — but you’ll miss the evening atmosphere.

How far is Sitges from Barcelona Airport?

About 30 minutes by car and around 45–60 minutes by train or 30 minutes by bus.

Where should I stay for the Sitges Film Festival?

Near the port (Hotel Meliá area) for maximum convenience, or centrally at Hotel Galeón for balance between festival access and town life.

Where to stay for the Sitges Carnival?

Carnival in Sitges is one of the wildest, most colorful celebrations in Spain. The parades, music, costumes, and street parties pretty much spill out of the official parade routes and into every nearby street.

The Old Town and central Sitges is absolutely the best place to stay if you don’t want to walk blocks through crowds just to get back to your room. It’s also ideal if you want to dive into the celebrations anytime day or night.

However, be aware that the carnival is a street party that lasts late into the night, so you won’t be sleeping much if you’re staying in the center.

If you stay more far west, on the other hand, you’ll enjoy beautiful views and quieter mornings.
