The first of its kind, The Naughty Cat Cafe, opened in Chattanooga in 2019, combining tasty drinks with the chance to meet and adopt adorable rescue cats. Since then, cat cafes in Tennessee have been making a purr-fect addition to the state’s attractions, offering a relaxing space to unwind with feline friends.

Boops & Beans Cat Cafe in Kingsport

Boops & Beans Cat Cafe opened in 2025 in downtown Kingsport.

It’s basically a big foster home than a regular cafe, with shelter cats living there while they wait for forever homes.

You’ll also meet some permanent feline residents: Artimus (who’s partially blind and has a few quirks), Bambi (who is incredibly sweet), Clive (who’s a bit shy but loves belly rubs), and Milo (who hops around like a bunny).

Want to meet these kitties? The local bus system serves downtown, so you can catch a ride that stops nearby and walk a short distance to the cafe.

Boops & Beans also hosts fun events, such as yoga sessions with the cats and cat bingo nights that give you extra ways to interact with the lounge residents.

On top of that, they offer grooming and boarding services.

The CARTA bus system runs routes through North Shore, with stops just a short walk from the cafe. There’s no nearby train station, but the neighborhood is very walkable from downtown.
