Is there really a better way to spend an afternoon than having a latte and cuddling a cat? Honestly, I don’t think so. That’s where cat cafés come in.
Lucky for us, Pennsylvania has quite a few! In fact, there are 17 of them.

Black Cat Cafe in Devon
Owned and operated by the rescue organization PALS, this cafe makes a great spot for breakfast or lunch thanks to its wide menu and relaxed vibe. It’s a non-profit space where every dollar from your check goes straight to helping abused, sick, injured, abandoned, and homeless cats. You can order take-away, book catering, or host a private event, and you’ll also find adoptable cats and kittens along with a small gift shop.
Getting there is easy by train, since the Devon SEPTA Regional Rail station is just a short walk away on the Paoli/Thorndale line. Local bus service is limited, but there are stops along nearby Lancaster Avenue within walking distance. If you’re driving, there is street parking near the cafe and additional parking available in nearby lots around Devon.

The Black Cat Market in Pittsburgh
This spot is part cafe and part adoption center. They have around 14 cats on site, who are all available for adoption through Frankie’s Friends.
Along with regular cafe visits, they host special events like yoga with cats, intuitive animal communication readings, painting sessions, book clubs, and more.
Several Port Authority bus routes stop just a short walk from the door. However, Pittsburgh doesn’t have local passenger trains in this area, but Amtrak and long-distance rail arrive at Pittsburgh Union Station downtown, which connects easily by bus. Street parking is available along Penn Avenue and nearby side streets, and there are also a few public parking lots within walking distance.

Cat Nook Cafe in Norwood
The main goal of Cat Nook Cafe in Norwood is to reduce cat homelessness as much as possible. They usually have around 10 cats available for adoption through a partnership with The Animal Coalition of Delaware County (ACDC Rescue).
On top of that, every dollar you spend goes straight toward caring for the cats, which makes hanging out with them feel even better.
They also host community events like raffles, a book club, and reading sessions for children.
Metered street parking is available right out front, with pay-by-plate parking allowed for up to 24 hours. You can also reach Cat Nook Cafe by SEPTA bus, which has stops along Chester Pike just a short walk from the cafe. The Norwood SEPTA Regional Rail station on the Wilmington/Newark Line is about a 10–15 minute walk away.

Cats in Bloom in Bloomsburg
Cats in Bloom opened in 2019 with the goal of finding homes for rescued, abused, and abandoned cats. The cafe runs entirely on volunteers and donations.
They usually have around 35 to 40 cats at any time. Whenever a cat gets adopted, a new one takes its place. Even if you’re not looking to adopt, you can come by to read, study, or just relax while spending time with the cats.
If you’re taking public transit, a few bus stops along Main Street are just a short walk from the cafe. There isn’t a train station in Bloomsburg. If you come by car, there’s street parking available nearby.

This spot combines a cafe and boutique filled with cat-themed goods with two playrooms where around 20 adoptable cats from Wayward Whiskers roam and play. They also host special events such as Yoga with Cats and Purr & Paint.
There are several bus stops and parking lots in the vicinity of the cat cafe.

Coal Cats Cafe in Tamaqua
The Coal Cats Cafe opened in October 2022 with the mission to help find homes for cats from Starting Over Animal Rescue (SOAR). You’ll usually find about a dozen to 15 adoptable kitties there to play with, and there’s also a small gift shop.
If you’re getting there by bus, the Schuylkill Transportation System has local stops around town that you can walk from to reach the cafe. An intercity Greyhound stop on East Broad Street is also nearby for longer trips. There’s street parking close to the cafe as well.

Craig’s Cat Cafe in Spring City
Rachel Craig got the idea for Craig’s Cat Cafe while visiting Kattakaffihúsið in Reykjavik. She loved the way the cat cafe made her feel and thought, “I want this in Spring City.”
Calla’s Critter Rescue provides the cats for her cafe. All of them can be adopted.
If you’re coming by bus, there are stops nearby along Riverside Drive and the surrounding streets. There is also street parking right around the cafe.

Dexter’s Cat Cafe in Indiana
Dexter’s Cat Cafe opened in the summer of 2023 and partners with Four Footed Friends to help ease shelter overcrowding and give as many rescue cats as possible a chance at forever homes. They have anywhere between 10 and 20 adoptable cats at all times.
Driving there tends to be easier for most visitors, and there is street parking around the cafe as well as nearby lots. If you’re using public transport, you can catch the local IndiGO bus (Route 1) along Philadelphia Street and nearby stops that are within walking distance of the cafe.

Get a Gato Cat Cafe in Philadelphia
Get a Gato Cat Cafe mixes a cozy Colombian-inspired cafe in the front with an adoption lounge in the back. The lounge is full of cats from The Cat Collaborative and House of the Cat, all ready to find their forever homes.
You can get there easily by SEPTA, with several bus stops just a short walk away along Christian Street, and the Lombard South metro station is only a few minutes on foot. Driving works well too, with street parking and nearby lots in the vicinity.

Kitty Queen Cat Rescue – Cat Lounge in Pittsburgh
Kitty Queen Cat Rescue is a no-kill organization that helps homeless, unwanted, and special needs cats find loving homes. Their cat lounge is where they care for, foster, and re-home unwanted or homeless cats. It’s their way to try and provide a better, healthier way of living during the transition.
The lounge itself usually houses 30 to 45 cats and kittens, and they limit visitors to 15 at a time to keep the environment calm and relaxing for both people and cats.
They also host fun events like Paint Nights, Wine Tastings, vendor fairs, ice cream parties, and arts and crafts for kids, making it a lively community spot.
You can reach Kitty Queen Cat Rescue by several Port Authority bus routes that stop within a short walk on McKnight Road. There is parking available nearby.

This cat cafe opened in 2025 and works with the local nonprofit Columbia Animal Shelter. All the cats come from the shelter, and every one of them is up for adoption. You can also stop in just for a drink or a pastry and hang out with the cats, even if adoption isn’t on your mind.
Street parking right outside the cafe is very limited, but the Duke Street Parking Garage sits less than a block away. If you take the Red Rose Transit bus, the closest stop is at N Duke St and Frederick St (about a three-minute walk). The Lancaster Amtrak Station is about a mile away.

Le Cat Cafe in Philadelphia
Philadelphia’s first cat cafe doubles as a foster home for adoptable cats from Green Street Rescue. They also host fun events, like yoga classes with cats.
It’s an easy stop for coffee after a trip to the Philadelphia Zoo or the Art Museum since both are nearby.
You’ll find street parking right in front of the cafe. The City Hall and 13th Street subway stations are only a few minutes’ walk.

MeWow Cafe in Doylestown
The Doylestown cat cafe works with several local rescues (such as Kitty Junction, Animal Alliance, KittyMamas Sanctuary Rescue, and Bigger Purpose Kitten Rescue) to help cats find new homes. You can meet the cats in a separate adoption lounge or just enjoy a drink or a treat in the cafe area.
The closest bus is SEPTA Route 55, which stops a few minutes’ walk from the cafe. You can also take the SEPTA Regional Rail Lansdale/Doylestown line to Doylestown Station and then walk or catch a short bus ride. There is plenty of free parking behind the cafe and some street parking nearby.

The goal of Purrfect Mugs Cat Cafe in Plains is to find new homes for as many cats as possible. All the cats come from their rescue partner, Whiskers World.
They host fun events like yoga with cats and a Silent Book Club, and there’s also a gift shop with cat toys, treats, hot sauce, and plenty of other goodies.
Parking is free near the cafe. Public transit is limited to local LCTA buses with stops on Main and Farrell, Birchwood Hills, N Main and W Saylor, or River and Saylor.

Purrista Cat Cafe in Erie
This cafe serves specialty coffees you can order for pickup or enjoy inside while watching the cats. All the cats (around 10) are adoptable, and adoption is made available through their partnership with Because You Care, Inc. They also host events like yoga with cats.
The nearest bus stops are on West 8th Street at Erie Plaza, just a short walk from the cafe. There is street parking right around the cafe, and a few paid parking garages are a short walk away.

The Scratching Post Cat Cafe in Lewisburg
This is another cute cafe where you can spend time with adoptable cats.
It was founded in 2017 by Cherished Cats Rescue Alliance, which rescues and rehabilitates former stray cats and helps volunteers spay or neuter feral cats to prevent unwanted litters.
The nearest bus stops are on Market Street within a few minutes’ walk, served by local GreenBus routes. There is a small parking lot just behind the cafe.

Treetops Kitty Cafe in Kennett Square
The non-profit organization Tree Tops Animal Rescue (TTAR) rehabilitates and finds forever homes for different types of animals, primarily cats. In 2017, TTAR expanded its reach by launching Treetops Kitty Cafe. The most at-risk, lost, abandoned, or surrendered cats from high-kill shelters are re-socialized at the cat cafe through interacting with potential adopters.
The closest bus stop is along State Street, just a short walk from the cafe. There is street parking nearby and a public parking garage a few blocks away.
