Nine cats, nine lives… and infinite cuddles!
At B’Aristokat, you’re in the company of nine rescue cats who are always ready to improve your day.
Unlike many other cat cafés, these lovable furballs aren’t available for adoption. However, each of these cats has a unique story, as most come from shelters. In contrast, others were rescued by kind-hearted individuals who asked the café to give them a home.
These adorable stars roam freely throughout the café, offering pets, snuggles, and heart-melting moments. It’s impossible not to smile when you’re around them—they’re the true stars of this café in Kortrijk!

Meet the cats
Here’s an introduction to the delightful cast of furry characters at B’Aristokat. These rescue cats are not up for adoption, but they’re happy to shower you with attention! They are the ones that make B’Aristokat Kortrijk worth visiting.
Barry
Often dubbed the “grumpy” one, Barry values his personal space. While he loves head and back scratches, it’s essential to respect his boundaries—ignore his signals, and you might get a paw swipe! You’ll often find him watching the world outside or napping undisturbed in the cat room.

Brutus
Brutus is a skilled hunter and always up for a cat-and-mouse game—especially with feather toys! Despite his imposing size, he enjoys a good nap, stretched out on the cat tree or curled up on a mat. Approach him calmly, and he’ll reward you with a nuzzle and allow some gentle petting.

Polleke
Polleke is playful and sweet. He enjoys games with both his feline friends and human visitors. Though he was once shy around people, he’s gained trust and confidence, especially if you’ve got a suitable toy to keep him entertained.

Sphinx
The sun-loving Sphinx is often found lounging at the front of the café. He’s happy to sit on your lap but doesn’t always enjoy being petted when he’s there. Give him his space, and occasionally, he’ll come to you for attention.

Charlie
Charlie’s tale is heartwarming. Found as an injured kitten with a damaged tail that had to be amputated, he has blossomed into a loving and affectionate cat. Whether it’s on your lap, behind your back, or on your jacket, Charlie is happiest when close to people.

O’Mally
The café’s only girl, O’Mally knows how to hold her own among the boys. Though she prefers playing with her feline companions over human interaction, she’ll be first in line whenever you hand out treats. She’s also cheeky enough to sneak a taste of your drink if you’re not careful!

Oreo
Fluffy and curious, Oreo loves exploring and digging through visitors’ bags for fun! He’s a social butterfly, moving from table to table for attention and affection. He is just as likely to nap between the pillows or admire the view by the window.

Junior
Once the smallest of the B’Aristokat cats, Junior has since grown into one of the largest. Despite his size, he enjoys the simple pleasures—playing with his friends, watching your drink, and occasionally sampling from your glass when you’re not looking!

Stevie
Stevie has overcome significant challenges. He was found nearly blind, with only 20-30% vision. Yet he doesn’t let that slow him down. Stevie is full of life and loves playing, especially with noisy toys stimulating his other senses.

House rules
Several house rules are in place to ensure the safety and well-being of both cats and visitors. They help prevent stress for the animals and promote a calm, clean environment for everyone.
- Avoid feeding the cats, even if they beg: The B’Aristokat staff gives them daily food. Overfeeding them can lead to obesity, which increases the risk of diabetes, heart disease, arthritis, and liver problems.
- Respect the cats’ naptime: Cats need rest, even during the day. Please let them sleep undisturbed.
- Do not pick up the cats: While they are social, some prefer not to be held and will come for attention when they’re ready.
- Supervise children around the cats: There’s no age limit at B’Aristokat, but children should be supervised when interacting with the cats. Ensure that they are mindful and gentle; misunderstandings can happen quickly.
