Of course, the only official way down was through a trail that was now inaccessible. The cat came up to me, and as she was walking, she kept looking at me to follow. She led me straight to the path that would take me down to the valley. She seemed super friendly considering I was a total stranger.”

A video from 2013, shared by another hiker and featuring the very same black and white cat, quickly re-surfaced. As it made the rounds online, more hikers chimed in, sharing their own stories of meeting the mysterious feline.
Eventually, the truth behind the “mountain guide cat” came to light. She turned out to be the beloved pet of a couple who run a nearby hostel in Gimmelwald.
