Siberian Forest Cats Amy and Merlin’s journey from Fuerteventura to Germany’s snowy wonderland
Maria and Markus met their future cats, Amy and Merlin, while on vacation in Puerto del Rosario, on the island of Fuerteventura.
They first noticed the two cats wandering the busy streets in the warm island air—a sharp contrast to the snowy scenery the two felines would soon go to.
At first, the cats simply crossed their path, but their gentle nature and striking eyes made a strong impression.
As Maria and Markus explored the city, Amy and Merlin kept showing up.
The cats followed them from place to place, never far behind, as if they had already decided where they belonged.
By the end of the trip, the decision felt inevitable. Maria and Markus brought Amy and Merlin home with them to Baden-Württemberg, in southwest Germany.

From the sunny shores of Fuerteventura to Germany’s snowy wonderland
Moving from the warm shores of Fuerteventura to the snow-covered landscapes of Baden-Württemberg brought a whole new experience for Amy and Merlin.
The change could have been tough, but these two handled it with ease.
As Siberian Forest Cats, they come from cold origins. Their thick, triple-layered fur protects them in winter, and their strong, agile bodies make them natural climbers and hunters. Snow, trees, and uneven ground didn’t slow them down. In fact, it suited these majestic felines just fine.

First steps in the snow
Amy and Merlin’s first encounter with snow was pure magic.
