If you live in Montana and want to visit a cat cafe, there’s only one option: Cat Show Cat Cafe in Bozeman.

But why aren’t there more?

“Building costs in Bozeman are extremely high, and for us, that was the biggest obstacle,” say founders Josh Marks and Josh Pecukonis, who also own the Garden Barn nursery in Bozeman.

But that wasn’t the only challenge. “A lot of cat cafes also struggle with mixing animals and food,” say Marks and Pecukonis. Strict health regulations require separating food service from cat areas, making operations even more expensive. “That’s why we’re only a ‘cafe’ in name, because we don’t serve food or drinks.”

Here’s everything you need to know about Montana’s only cat cafe.

Cat Show Cat Cafe in Bozeman

Address: Cat Show Cat Cafe, The Market, 730 Boardwalk Ave, Bozeman, MT 59718, United States.

Opening hours: Monday to Saturday, 12:00 pm – 05:00 pm. Sunday, 11:00 am – 04:00 pm

Cat Show Cat Cafe in Bozeman has been welcoming cat lovers since 2020.

Unlike most cat cafes in the US, all eight resident cats—Eddie, Stella, Bob, Mildew, Mossy, David, Alexis, and Captain Jack Sparrow—have already found their permanent home right here at the cat cafe. From playful kittens to senior cats as old as 18, there’s a mix of feline personalities and energy levels.

For the first couple of years, Cat Show featured adoptable cats through a partnership with Heart of the Valley, their local shelter. While the collaboration still exists, the selection process was understandably selective—only certain cats were chosen to join the café.

“After a while, they were only giving us a cat every couple of months, and they would usually get adopted quickly, so that model started to make less sense,” Marks and Pecukonis told Traveling Cats. With fewer cats available and adoption happening at lightning speed, the cafe had to rethink its approach!

You can drop in for a $9 day pass or get unlimited monthly visits for $40. This non-profit cafe puts all proceeds directly into cat care and maintaining their space.

Reservations aren’t required, but since only ten guests can enter at a time, booking ahead is a good idea. One adult must accompany each child, and only well-behaved children ten and up are allowed inside.

It’s good to know that Cat Show Cat Cafe doesn’t serve food or drinks. However, there are four restaurants in The Market buildingy, so it’s super convenient, plus you are welcome to bring your own food and drinks—just don’t share it with the cats!

For something extra special, check out their Cat Yoga events, where stretching alongside the cafe’s whiskered residents is all part of the fun.

They are soon launching a nonprofit called 4F (Felines and Foliage for Fulfillment), which focuses on using cats and plants to support mental health.
